What you need to know.

Be in the know and get the lowdown.

What it is...

A woman-run, woman-focused, cooperative writing community.

Part klatsch, part study hall - we collaborate for accountability, companionship, and support.

We welcome self-identifying women writers over 40 of all levels, genres and intentions - from fiction to poetry to technical documents to grant proposals.

The start...

Created in 2020 by Tulani Bridgewater-Kowalski, The Writer's Room was formed in The Woolfer (fka What Would Virginia Woolf Do) founded by author/polymath Nina Lorez Collins and migrated to Hello Revel. We are now a stand-alone community of Woolfers, Revelers and friends.

The concept was adapted from fellow "Woolfer" and author Annabelle Gurwitch, based on Gurwitch's article in Los Angeles Magazine.

In partnership with co-hosts Kit Irwin, Amy Turner, Jaime Kinyon, Deborah King, and Carrie Hayes. The Writer's Room is home to a cohort of talented authors, journalists, memoirists, poets and screenwriters.

How we do...

We keep it simple.

O.G. Sessions (M-F) are our weekday sessions. We start with a brief check-in, then write with breaks.

We have themed breakout rooms, craft talks, feedback sessions, silent writing rooms and more, depending on participant's needs.

Our Weekend Edition (Sa-Su) has a similar set-up, without intervals or themed breakout rooms.

Good Morning (M-T) sessions offer weekday writers an earlier option to get going.

Social meet-ups both online and in person allow us to commune outside writing times. Schedule varies.
